There is pretty much to say so I do not know a more specific title for this entry.
Actually our little barn has a new roof and last Saturday, we had a little Glühwein get-together to celebrate this event. There were some friends and equestrian colleagues at our house to have a look at what we are creating. -- It was even more surprising, that since yesterday our little barn has its purpose: there is a wagon with hay sitting in the barn. Well to tell you the truth the size of today's wagons in relation to the needs of the size of a barn in 1890 has dramatically changed. Fortunately, this wagon sits squeezed but it still fit.
Then, I have to mention really two heroes: Tabasco who is "suffering" tests of all kind in Gießen at the vet clinic. At least we are finding several things in his body that are not working as they should and I pray that the docs in Gießen will be able to define and - more importantly - tackle these issues.
The other hero is conquering my heart, honestly. It is N.S. Landeur (Landy). I am really proud of him, as for the last three nights he has been alone in his paddock (as Tabbi is at the vet clinic). He behaves absolutely correct, of course he is a little unsure about his being alone and I believe at first there were all kinds of monsters suddenly out in the evening. But today (Sunday), I took him alone, in the trailer, to Micha's stable in order to get him some movement. He went into the trailer alone (without help I want to say), be behaved well alone, he moved and had some fun I guess, and then we strolled along the pasture a little to relax and came back home. I am proud because I feel he trusts me and with all the new challenges, it has not been too easy for him the last weeks.

Yesterday we were in Friedberg to celebrate the annual Kreisreiterbund-Ball. In the beginning "of my career riding in Hessen" (I mean in the last years) I personally judged this event as a pretty much bourgeois event and sort of tried to avoid going there. In the meantime, it is - as long as you're actively pursuing equestrian sports - something like a "Pflichtveranstaltung", a must. One reason is the proclamation of the overall winners, the "grand trophy" or Bestenehrung for the year, in each discipline of riding. And we were among the best in eventing for the last four years now. Thank you Tabasco. This year, for the first time, we won 1rst prize in our class. Thank you Tabasco, again. I want to mention once more that he did not make one tiny little mistake this year in all 15 or so jumping and eventing tests we entered!! This is remarkable, and even more remarkable when you consider that his health is not at 100%.
I must say that I still consider this event as pretty much bourgeois, but I see some good things in it, too. There are some good friends you hardly ever see over the year, and then you pretty much know they will be at the KRB-Ball. I enjoy some good friends knowing how to party (I feel like a Spaßbremse sometimes, as I am really an early bird and everything that happens after 10p.m. in the evening, is a little stressful for me. I cannot drink (except water) because otherwise this time reduces itself to 9p.m. - which is worse again. I cannot dance because I used to hate that much plus my aching back does not make it better). But REALLY the band, High Five (?) were really really good!! Then but that is not exclusive to this ball - we meet our friends from Reitclub Altenstadt which is managed by Micha and Otto Messerschmidt (http://www.reiterhof-messerschmidt.de/). It is a rather large stable, we are members since 2006. I am glad to know that there is someone close to me as Micha, who can assist and help with my riding and who is in addition one of the few people I know I consider pretty much horsepeople that handle horses as horses need to be handled, who are not stuck-up and conceited at all and who do not mind passing on their knowledge to less priviledged talents :-)....
