Tropic June 2013

Today was hayday. We loaded and stored 110 bales of fresh new hay and well, "we" is actually Chris. For those who wonder where his excellent running shape comes from: start carrying bales of hay and you'll know. At 30 degree celcius, this is even more remarkable. Apart from that, I want to repeat some things that have developed in the shape of my gentle darling horse since spring:

Continuously, he does not have swollen legs, stiff limbs, bad skin, and some other things he had before the lyme disease treatment. His belly is no longer blown up, and he easily travels in the trailer without any apparent problems to balance. Interestingly his readiness to work under saddle and chew on the bit has increased to an extent that surprises me. That also explains that all problems under saddle were related to his disease: chronic lyme disease. In such a situation, I just wish we would have known and treated it much earlier. He suffered. Very much so. So did I.

I meant to report, for the last two months Tabbi had a treatment that was recommended by Birgit Volesky which consisted in three South American herbal products called Samento, Takuna and Cumanda. I googled them and understand that one is anti-inflammatory, another one pushes the immune system and the third acts as anti-biotic. In combination, I am convinced that these herbs improved the overall situation of leftover toxines and inflammations all over his body considerably. Nevertheless I have now stopped giving them and I watch closely whether we need them again.

Meanwhile, I am restoring Tabbis digestive force by means of CME Gastro Control. I believe that if there are/were any ulcers at any point of time in the last years, that they are very closely related to the symptoms of his lyme suffering, and if everything in the body is inflamed, why should it not affect the stomach and digestion??

The last years had left me uncertain, angry and disappointed. They left me questioning my ability to manage a horse. The past four months have turned this anger into pride and happiness. Into that much closer of a relationship to my very horse that only people can feel who went through similar situations. I am so happy that he held and improved his shape since the Cobactan treatment in February. Since we started giving the Indian herbs, I have not seen any new damages resulting from borrelia.

I have however found and killed about 20 new ticks.

This is my wonderful Tabasco in June 2013:
